Substitute Danny Ings proves point for West Ham with late equaliser at Fulham

Fulham 1-1 West Ham: Ings rescues point for Hammers with late equaliser

Substitute Danny Ings came off the bench to salvage a point for West Ham with a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw at Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday.

Aleksandar Mitrovic had given Fulham a first-half lead with a towering header, but Ings levelled in the 83rd minute with a close-range finish after a cross from Jarrod Bowen.

The result leaves West Ham in 16th place in the table, one point above the relegation zone, while Fulham remain in seventh place.

Ings makes instant impact

Ings was introduced in the 68th minute for Michail Antonio and made an immediate impact.

He had a shot blocked in the 70th minute and then headed wide from a corner in the 75th minute.

But he made no mistake in the 83rd minute, when he converted Bowen's cross from close range.

Fulham rue missed chances

Fulham had chances to win the game in the second half.

Andreas Pereira shot wide in the 60th minute and Mitrovic headed over from a corner in the 70th minute.

The Cottagers also had a penalty appeal waved away in the 88th minute after Bowen appeared to handle the ball in the box.

West Ham show resilience

West Ham showed great resilience to come back from a goal down.

They had to defend for long periods in the second half, but they never gave up and eventually got their reward.

The Hammers will be relieved to have taken a point from a tough away game and they will now be looking to build on this result in their next game against Manchester United.
