SpaceX Launch After Lunch: Everything to Know About the Starlink Launch from Cape Canaveral

About the Launch

SpaceX is targeting a 1:29 p.m. ET launch of a Falcon 9 rocket carrying 53 Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The launch window is approximately two hours and 30 minutes long. This will be the 40th dedicated launch of Starlink satellites and the second of 2023.

About the Mission

The Starlink mission is a constellation of satellites designed to provide low-earth orbit broadband internet access. The launch will add to the nearly 3,500 Starlink satellites already in orbit. The satellites will be deployed into an orbit about 341 miles above Earth.

What to Expect

If the launch is successful, the Falcon 9's first stage will return to Earth and land on the "Just Read the Instructions" droneship in the Atlantic Ocean. The Starlink satellites will then be deployed into their orbit. The launch can be viewed live on SpaceX's website.

Additional Information

* The launch is weather-dependent and could be postponed due to poor conditions. * The Falcon 9 rocket is a two-stage rocket that is designed to be reusable. * The Starlink satellites are each about the size of a small car and weigh about 573 pounds. * The Starlink constellation is expected to eventually have over 4,000 satellites in orbit. * SpaceX has launched over 200 rockets since 2010.
