White House Correspondents' Dinner Returns After Two-Year Hiatus

Biden, Media, and Trump Roasted at Star-Studded Event

Updates: April 30, 2022

After a two-year absence due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD) made a triumphant return on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The annual event, known for its star-studded guest list and biting political humor, did not disappoint.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden attended the WHCD, along with a host of celebrities and media personalities. Comedian Steven Portnoy served as the featured entertainer and took aim at President Biden, the media, and former President Donald Trump in his opening monologue.

"It's good to be here with all the people who keep us informed about the news," Portnoy joked. "Even if I don't always agree with it, I appreciate the fact that you're willing to hold those in power accountable." He also poked fun at Biden's age, his low approval ratings, and his handling of the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Afghanistan.
